Wills and powers of attorney
Wills are for you to specify how your estate is divided up on death. Without a will, legal rules will determine who inherits your assets.
A Power of Attorney allows others to manage your finances and/or make health decisions during your lifetime when you cannot. This could arise due to poor health, dementia, being in a coma etc.
It is important to realise that a Power of Attorney or Will cannot be put into place once you have been diagnosed with dementia or lack mental capacity. It is therefore essential that this is completed whilst you are in good health.
